Learning More Than
Language
The objective of the Austin International School Summer Language Immersion Camp
is for students not only to learn Spanish and French, but to learn to be open to
different cultures and share unforgettable experiences. We believe that by
exposing a child to a broad environment brought about by the knowledge of a
second language and other cultures, he/she is provided with a great advantage in
life, given our global environment.
Children learn French and Spanish at a rapid rate, because the only way to
really learn a language is to practice it. When a child participates in an
immersion program, he/she will have plenty of time and countless opportunities
to practice his or her language skills.
Students will also be exposed to Francophone,
Hispanic
and Latino cultures, including traditional games and songs. Arts, crafts
and theatre will play a large role. All activities are taught in French
and Spanish and taught by native speakers.

Testimonials
"Our daughter Margarita has attended the
summer program at the Austin
International School for the last three years and we are very pleased
with the results. Spanish is the native language of her mom, but the
excellent approach of her teacher this summer has made her more
willing and more comfortable to use it in daily conversations.
Similarly, she is being gradually introduced to the French language
through songs, games and attractive and age-appropriate techniques and
has been learning the basics. Most importantly, she is learning to
value people from different backgrounds and cultures. We intend to
continue this unique multicultural exposure during her summer months."

"Our son enjoyed the friendships, crafts, field
trips, and most of all, the wonderful teachers he had at camp. We spent our
summer in Austin specifically to send him to camp!"
