He specializes in assessment based executive coaching, and developmental planning. In the past few years, he has worked to develop 360-degree feedback instruments tailored to the specific needs of certain organizations, to develop team building in organizations, and to help managers through times of transition.

Sophie Cano

email: barksdale.english@austininternationalschool.orgBarksdale English is a policy advisor to Austin City Council Member Bill Spelman and handles issues related to public safety, the city’s electric utility, sustainability, and community services, among others. He and his coworkers form a unified team that represents the Council Member to his constituents, the media, other political offices, and the broader Austin community. Prior to his time in Austin City Hall, Barksdale produced non-profit theater in San Francisco for ten years. During that time, he led a nationally-acclaimed theater development comany by overseeing the development and production of more than fifty plays, launching the company’s first major fundraising campaign, and ushering in financial and organizational stability for the 15-year old organization. He regularly volunteers with Austin Parks Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Little Helping Hands, and the United Way Capital Area, and coaches youth soccer for the North Austin Soccer Alliance. Barksdale is the proud father of two AIS students: Lukas (CE1) and Adeline (PS).

Bertrand Hazard

In his current role as vice president of product marketing with Troux Technologies, he leads the product marketing, demand generation, and communities efforts for the global leader in Enterprise Architecture software. Before joining Troux, Bertrand spent seven years at NetIQ, a global leader in systems and security management software, where he was first instrumental in building the international marketing organization from the ground up and later driving NetIQ’s product market strategy and go-to-market plans worldwide.
Prior to NetIQ, Bertrand spent six years in Europe in various sales and marketing positions in the consumer goods and banking industries. A seasoned marketing practitioner with a global perspective and entrepreneurial drive, he is a member of the Forrester’s Technology Marketing Executive Council and an active board adviser for ProductCamp Austin, a collaborative, user organized conference, focused on product marketing and management topics.

Karen Herbert, Secretary

She specializes in state and federal policy, particularly in the areas of teacher quality, school reform, and school governance. Her work has been presented to the Texas State Senate Committee on Education and at a number of national conferences. She completed her doctorate from The University of Texas at Austin, where her dissertation focused on performance-based compensation systems for teachers.

Since leaving UTSA, Professor Lundy has taught at The University of the Andes in Venezuela, The University of Jordan at Amman and, most recently, has been a Senior Fellow at the American Center for Oriental Research in Amman, Jordan. She co-edited a collection of essays titled “The American Question: Comparative Encounters in the Middle East”. Professor Lundy contributed to the Position Paper #2 from the American Studies Conference sponsored by the Fulbright program in Egypt in 2003 and has had papers published in the proceedings of the 2006 and 2008 CASAR conferences on America and the Middle East as well as other publications.
