Fulfilling its Mission
Since 2001, the Austin International School has
worked to fulfill its mission to provide its students with a highly academic,
multicultural and multilingual (French/Spanish/English) education. It is the aim of AIS to enrich
students with cultural diversity and inspire them to live their lives as global
citizens.
Excellent Ratios and Great Diversity
AIS has 30 members within its faculty and staff and
142 students. It's ratios are 1/7 for preschool (PS/MS), 1/15 in
kindergarten (GS) and first grade, and 1/20 for second and up (CE and CM). AIS
families and staff also contain a great deal of diversity, with over 24
countries represented and over 16 languages spoken in their homes.
Moreover, located in a global-minded Austin, AIS is different than its
counterpart schools in other cities, where more than half of its students are
American.
A Part of the Mission Laïque Française
Since
2004
AIS is also a part of the Mission Laïque
Française (MLF) schools, as are the Dallas and Houston International Schools.
The MLF is a non profit organization dedicated to spreading French culture and
language abroad, especially through education. With 103 years of
experience, MLF is represented in 74 schools totaling 25,000 students and
2,000 teachers in 30 different countries on six continents.
An Accredited Elementary School
AIS is the only accredited international school in
Austin offering a trilingual curriculum including French and Spanish, and is
accredited by the French Ministry of Education and the National Association for
the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). AIS is seeking accreditation through
the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) by 2010.
