Program of Studies (6e)

Program of Studies (6e/6th Grade)

The first year of the AIS Middle School curriculum has been designed to meet the needs of learners transitioning from elementary school to a more independent secondary school setting. It builds on the strength of the seamless learning experience of elementary school by maintaning immersive experiences in several subjects. AIS Middle School students focus on the development of their academic as well as affective skills, preparing them for more autonomous learning throughout their secondary school experiences.

STEAM education – 6th grade

STEAM represents the convergence of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. During this time, students work in the AIS MakerSpace to practically engage in theoretical concepts covered in other subject areas. STEAM lessons will be either guided, skills-based lessons or creative Spark lessons during which students will be invited to bring their unique ideas to fruition. The Middle School teaching team works collaboratively to extend learning into the realm of the phyisical by engaging students to create in English, French, and Spanish.
