Nicolas Poupon

An author and illustrator born in 1972, Nicolas Poupon discovered his passion for comic books when he was 19 years old. Leaving behind history studies, he enrolled himself in a fine arts program, which afforded him plenty of time to discover his style and draw inspiration from the little vignettes in life. He is the author of more than 22 published works crafted in his identifiable style which mixes humor, poetry and awareness of social problems. His first published work was Noémie Contre la Rumeur, a comic book for youth published in 1999 by the French publishing house Treize étrange. This was followed by numerous publications by many small publishing houses in France, including Le 9ème Monde, Triskel, Paquet, Cycliste, and Delcourt. He garnered widespread attention with his humorous series Le Fond du Bocal. He followed this up with Faire Semblant les Jours D’Orage, undertaken in a more traditional comic book style. His work Fleur de Géant (Scutella Editions) follows the story of a tiny young woman named Fleur who escapes from her unhappy, misunderstood life into the Land of the Giants and makes friends with people who appreciate her unique size and personality. Poupon has been featured in numerous publications including Le Cyclist, Publiq’, La Dépêche de Midi and Canal BD.
