Trilingual Science Fair
Each year our Cours Elementaire (2nd and 3rd
grade) and Cours Moyen (4th and 5th grade) students take part in our
trilingual science fair. A contest is held and outside college
professors or scientists are the judges. Each student must give an
explanation of their projects to the judges as well as create a display to
demonstrate the experiment. Students enjoy explaining his or her
project findings, and the results are always anticipated.
Class Projects
Each class conducts many
academic projects during the year. From making short films and
anthologies of literary works done in class, to learning
in depth about a particular country or profession, AIS students are
continually encouraged and inspired to think outside the box.
International Week
AIS strives to give each
student a multilingual, multicultural education year-round via its French,
Spanish, and English immersion curriculum. Once a year, we host a week of
international events beyond the regular lessons. During International Week,
students focus in-depth on a chosen country to study its people, language,
food, culture, history, traditions, and other features. Each class carries
out its regular lessons using the chosen country as a theme and tool for
several weeks, culminating in the final week of events where students share
a presentation with their fellow classmates and schoolmates. On the last
day, we host an international pot-luck for the entire AIS community so that
families can share a special dish. Costumes, posters, singing, and food fill
the school and make learning about the world fun and exciting.

Choir
Students in PS, MS, GS, and CP
have choir once a week, and students in CE1 through CM2 begin each school day
with a quarter hour of singing practice. In 2008-09, the choir performed
publicly at the Zilker Park Trail of Lights, at the Ladybird Johnson
Wildflower Center, at Cedar Park High School; their capstone performance was
at the Texas State Capitol Building. The choir will travel to Lablachère, France in Ardèche during spring 2010 to visit a choir there and practice common songs.
