ACADEMIC SESSIONS AND RECESS

A day at AIS is divided into sessions.  There is a morning session, followed by a morning recess; a second morning session followed by lunch and recess; an afternoon session followed by an afternoon recess; and finally, a second afternoon session and release from school.  To see a sample class schedule for PS, click here, and for a sample CM class schedule click here.

BELL SCHEDULE

Bells ring throughout the day at AIS signaling classes to begin or let out, lunches and recesses.  For 2009-2010 our bell schedule is as below:

Morning Bells

• The first bell rings at 8:10 AM to signal the students in CE1, CE2, CM1 and CM2 to line up and wait for the teacher to escort them to their classroom.
• The second bell rings at 8:15 AM, indicating that students in CE1, CE2, CM1 and CM2 should be seated in class.
• The third bell rings at 8:25 AM and signals that GS and CP students should line up and wait for the teacher to escort them to their classroom. 
• The final bell rings at 8:30 AM indicating that students in GS and CP should be seated in class and signals PS and MS students to line up to be escorted into their classroom.
• Class for PS and MS students begins at 8:45 AM with no bell. 

Afternoon Bells

In the afternoon, the first bell rings at 3:30 PM to release GS and CP students onto the playground.  PS, MS, CE and CM will have already been released without bells.  The final afternoon bell rings at 4:00 PM and signals that pickup time is over.  For PS and MS students, the pick-up window is from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM; for CE and CM students, the pick-up window is from 3:15 PM to 3:45 PM; for GS and CP students, the pick-up window is from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM.   

PARENT FOLDERS

Daily communication is key at AIS.  Each child has a folder in the reception area with their name on it.  Teachers, the AIS-PTO, and Administration use these folders to communicate important information to parents.  Parents are asked to check their folders each day.

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Many students are signed up for After School Activities each day.  Students usually play in After School Care and wait for their activities to start.  If you would like to know more about our After School Activities, click here.  All activities, including After School Care, conclude at 6:15 pm
