VISION, HEARING, SPEECH, AND MOTOR SCREENINGS
REGISTER NOW TO HAVE YOUR CHILD PARTICIPATE

We have partnered with Capital Area Speech and Occupational Therapy to conduct Developmental Screenings.

Date of Screening: September 25, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.

This is your opportunity to get your developmental questions answered!

WHO MUST BE SCREENED?
The following students must complete a vision and hearing screening:

Kinder–5th grade includes:
Vision, Hearing, Fine Motor, Gross Motor, Attention, Speech, Language, and Reading Readiness.
6th–8th grade includes:
Vision/Hearing Only
Speech and motor skills will only be included at parent's request
Any new AIS students 4-years-old and up (i.e., MS through 8th)
Screenings are conducted by speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists.

Screenings help identify children who may need further evaluation, but they are not diagnostic in nature and are not the same as an evaluation.

Parents will be contacted to review the results and recommendations.

CAN MY CHILD'S PEDIATRICIAN PROVIDE SCREENING RESULTS?
Yes. If your child has had vision AND hearing tests at their pediatrician's office during their annual wellness check, then they have satisfied the legal screening requirements established by the State of Texas. Please ensure that these screening results are on file no later than Friday, September 29th, 2023, in order to remain compliant with the Texas Health and Safety Code. Please note that students who do not have complete health records on file will either be provisionally enrolled or temporarily unenrolled until updated health records are provided to the school.

IMPORTANT: Please note that state law requires schools to provisionally enroll and/or temporarily unenroll students who do not have complete health records on file. It is important that all student health records be up-to-date by Friday, September 29th, to avoid any disruption to your child(ren)'s learning.
