Benjamin Vila
Middle School Coordinator & CM2 Teacher
Originally from the Ardèche region in Southeastern France, Ben moved to Austin this past summer with his American wife, their 5-year-old son, and their Golden Retriever mix.
He brings 15 years of diverse teaching and leadership experience across public and private schools in France, spanning Pre-K through 8th grade. Ben holds a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences (with a focus on Math and Chemistry), a Master’s degree in Education, and national teaching credentials from France.
Throughout his career, Ben has taught in a wide range of educational settings, including multi-grade classrooms, dual-language environments, and inclusive programs supporting students with diverse learning needs. Before relocating to Texas, he served as Pedagogical Coordinator for a private school near Lyon, where he helped design and expand their Middle School curriculum. At AIS, Ben serves as Middle School Coordinator while teaching 5th Grade (CM2).
Driven by high energy, warmth, and a good dose of humor. Ben believes learning should be active, meaningful, and fun. He focuses on project-based learning, differentiated instruction, and fostering a safe, positive environment where students thrive both academically and emotionally.
Outside of school, Ben is a big sports enthusiast who played soccer for 25 years and loves playing golf and traveling with his family.
