A Community of Giving

A Community of Giving

Welcome from the Chief Operating Officer

April O'Quinn, COOAt Austin International School, we strive to have a broad reach, to foster a global mindset within our students and community, and to nurture and enhance their understanding and appreciation of other cultures, languages, and the world. Interestingly, philanthropy is defined as “the love of humanity, in the sense of caring, nourishing, developing, and enhancing what it means to be human.” This vision of fostering an interconnectedness with each other is upheld by our Core Values. At AIS, we are encouraged to be generous. In learning about others, we learn about their needs, hopes, and desires. Our generosity of heart encourages us to support one another.

Austin International School is a private school, but it is also a non-profit. Tuition and fees do not fully fund our operational expenses or educational initiatives. And like all private schools, from the smallest elementary school to the largest university, we rely on the generosity of our parents, partners, and friends of the school to contribute to our community of giving and fundraising efforts. We recognize, encourage, and appreciate the community of giving at AIS, as this generous nature is what helps support the growth and advancement of the school as well as the day to day operations.

This giving presents itself in a variety of ways. The financial resources are essential, as we could not balance our budget annually without contributed support. But giving through volunteer time by supporting school events (such as International Week or Fund Run), or by helping in the classroom, or serving on a committee or board of directors is also an integral part of community giving at AIS.  We also foster this spirit of giving with our students and encourage giving back to our community through service learning projects throughout the year.

When you give to AIS...

  • you are promoting the successful development of our next generation of global learners.
  • your gift has a meaningful impact on the growth and enhancements of our exceptional curriculum and programs.
  • you support the professional development of our teachers and faculty.
  • you support recruitment and retention efforts of the most talented faculty and staff.
  • you inspire the community to invest in our mission through your support.
  • you help fund specific initiatives to strengthen the AIS student experience.

When you join the AIS community, you are investing in the growth and infrastructure of the school for your children and for the children of tomorrow. We consider you as partners in each phase of our growth. We have several ways to contribute throughout the year and we hope you support our fundraising and volunteer initiatives which have the greatest impact to you.

I am struck each day by the spirit of giving which lives and breathes in our school community and partners and I thank you in advance for your support!

Sincerely,

April O'Quinn
